Jewell vows to remain with Derby

Derby manager Paul Jewell has committed his future to the club amid reports linking him with a move to Blackburn.

Rovers boss Mark Hughes has been given permission to talk to Manchester City about their vacant manager's job and he has also been linked with Chelsea.

And Jewell has moved quickly to quash rumours linking him with a move to Ewood Park.

"My name has been bandied about and I wanted to move quickly to commit to Derby," he told the club's website.

"This is a huge club and I have a massive job to do. It is important to make my intentions clear so there are no distractions.

"We are having a fantastic summer in the transfer market with six new signings and many more in the pipeline. My only focus is Derby."

Jewell took charge of Derby in November last year but was unable to save them from relegation as they finished with a record points low of just 11.
