Daggers boss remains confident

Dagenham and Redbridge

Dagenham and Redbridge manager John Still said confidence remained high despite being just one point clear of the relegation places in League Two.

Still told BBC London 94.9: "We knew what the challenge was at the start of the season, we know what the challenge is now."

Mansfield, second from bottom, have closed to within one point of Dagenham.

"Yes we are good enough to stay up but Mansfield, Wrexham and Notts County will say the same thing," Still said.

When the Daggers won five in a row in February and March it looked like they had done enough to secure football league survival.

But no win in nine games means they are now in a dog-fight with two games to go.

'Maintain perspective'

Still said they were not unduly worried by the situation.

"No more pressure than last week, no more than next week. The way I look at it we've got to go and play the games," he said.

"If it comes down to the last day of the season, we go and play the last game of the season. I always say the same thing, you can't worry about other teams."

Dagenham go to 6th place Darlington on Saturday before what could be a deciding game against Mansfield on the final day.

Still said he wanted people to maintain perspective on what had been achieved in the last two seasons.

"This club has massively over-achieved, everyone knows that. If this team stays in the league this year it's a bigger achievement than getting promotion last year."
