White makes Orient switch
Colchester defender Alan White
White started his career as a trainee at Middlesbrough
Defender Alan White has left Colchester to join Martin Ling's Third Division side Leyton Orient.

The 28-year-old rejected the offer of a new deal at Layer Road and instead signed a two-year deal with Orient.

White, who was voted player of the year last season, spent four years with Colchester after signing from Luton.

"Alan has been an excellent servant to the club but he has decided he wants a new challenge," U's boss Phil Parkinson told the club's official website.

White is Ling's second signing of the close season following Lee Steele's arrival from Oxford United.

The defender, who captained Colchester for much of last season, made 166 appearances for the U's, scoring 4 goals.
