Cheltenham striker Lloyd Owusu has penned a two-year deal with Adelaide United after passing a medical.

The 32-year-old ex-Ghana international, who ended the season on loan at Brighton, spent a week with the A-League team before signing the deal.

Adelaide coach Aurelio Vidmar told the club website that the player would bolster his team's attacking options.

"He's got a fair bit of experience and knows how to score goals. We're looking for a big input from him," he said.

The former Brentford striker had played a key role in preserving Brighton's League One status after a loan move from Cheltenham Town, scoring seven goals in 14 games.

But the player decided against a permanent move to the South Coast, instead choosing to join Adelaide, where Brazilian striker Romario had a brief stint in 2006.

Adelaide have enjoyed success over recent years, appearing in the finals of both the AFC Champions League and the A-League during last season's campaign.
