Parkinson looks for improvement

Charlton caretaker boss Phil Parkinson
Parkinson was not happy at the level of performance against Coventry

Charlton caretaker boss Phil Parkinson is determined to improve on his side's showing after the loss to Coventry.

The Addicks play Derby next and Parkinson said: "If it's me in charge I will be doing all I can to get a better performance out of the team.

"I don't think the uncertainty (over the managerial position) helps but I'm not going to use that as an excuse.

"It doesn't matter what is going on in the background, you have to roll your sleeves up and have a real go."

Charlton are currently bottom of the Championship and are yet to appoint a permanent manager following the exit of Alan Pardew.
