Charlton midfielder Scott Parker has ended speculation about his future by signing a new five-year contract with the Addicks.

The midfielder has been linked with a move away from The Valley, with Tottenham and Chelsea among the clubs rumoured to be interested.

But Parker, who was named in an England squad in February, has put pen to paper in a deal which will keep him at Charlton until 2008.

Club chairman Richard Murray said he was delighted to end the speculation over the player's future.

"This deal should be seen as a clear statement of Charlton's intention to compete at the highest possible level," he told the club's official website.

"We are delighted that Scott has committed himself to the club in this way.

"And it is a vote of confidence in what Alan Curbishley and the board are doing here, because it shows that he recognises that he can progress further as a player at The Valley.

The Addicks have also been boosted by Jonathan Fortune's decision to sign a new-three year deal with the club.

"Jon has also been tremendous for us in the last couple of years and his emergence shows the importance of the club's commitment to developing its own talent."
