Darryl Duffy may consider permanent Carlisle move

On-loan Carlisle United striker Darryl Duffy has not ruled out making a permanent move to the club from Bristol Rovers in the summer.

The 26-year-old joined United on transfer deadline day until the end of the season and has played three times.

"We've just got to see how it goes," Duffy told BBC Radio Cumbria. "It's started quite well.

"It's up to me to maintain form. If I do that hopefully I might have a couple of options in the summer."

Duffy scored his first goal for the club in Saturday's 5-0 home win over MK Dons.

"It's always good to get a goal on your home debut and to go with a 5-0 victory against the MK Dons is a great result for us," he said.

"I probably should have had two or three but if I can get a bit sharper in front of goal in the next few games hopefully I can get a few more."

The Glasgow-born forward, who has been in and out of the Bristol Rovers starting 11 this season, said he is enjoying some regular first-team football with Greg Abbott's side.

"I actually felt a wee bit of cramp coming on on Saturday," Duffy said. "I think that's the first time I've played three 90 minutes in a week in a long time, it's a good feeling."

Duffy cost Rovers £100,000 from Swansea City in July 2008 after previous spells with Rangers, Falkirk, Hull City and Hartlepool United.

"I'm loving it (at Carlisle) so far," he said. "It's a great bunch of lads and the backroom staff are fantastic.

"I'm closer to Scotland as well which is a bit of a bonus so I'm delighted, I'm loving it."

Duffy has also said he has not had too much contact with his employers since joining Carlisle.

"(I'm) pretty much left to get on with my own devices to be honest," he said.

"When we had the Leeds game and I was cup-tied I went back to Bristol and had a couple of days training.

"That's the only time I've spoken to anybody there."

However, Duffy said he does not want to speculate too much as to where his longer-term future may lie.

"I'm just going to focus on the football and what will be in the summer will be," he concluded.
