Pirates rocked by Andrews injury

Wayne Andrews
Andrews impressed boss Trollope in the short time he was on the pitch

Wayne Andrews' loan at Bristol Rovers could be over after he damaged his knee ligaments on his debut at Yeovil.

The Coventry striker was stretchered off just 17 minutes into Saturday's League One clash at Huish Park.

"We'll speak to Coventry about it over the next few days," Rovers head coach Paul Trollope told BBC Radio Bristol.

"He showed little glimpses of quality and pace which is why I brought him in. But as it looks at the moment he'll be out for the rest of the season."

Trollope was particularly frustrated because of the amount of work he had put in to bring Andrews to the Memorial Ground.

Opportunity knocks now for the younger ones

Bristol Rovers head coach Paul Trollope

"It's been a long search for a striker, and we've had a lot of knockbacks and a lot of things going against us, which meant we hadn't got people in but we knew we had a player there. "He showed little glimpses of quality, and pace which is why brought him in.

"We needed someone to give us a spark, but unfortunately it doesn't look like now that Wayne's going to be able to give us that.

"Josh Klein-Davies came on and gave a very good account of himself, held it up well and looked a threat - opportunity knocks now for the younger ones, who were maybe disappointed in the week to see him [Andrews] come in."
