Machin fills Cherries keeper spot
Mark Ovendale
Ovendale's void is filled
Bournemouth have moved swiftly to replace Mark Ovendale by agreeing terms with French keeper Michael Menetrier for a permanent move to Dean Court.

Despite losing Ovendale, boss Mel Machin said: "I have been able to replace him without a fee and keep the overall quality of the squad intact."

Bournemouth have also snapped up 17-year-old Canadian keeper Simon Rayner on a one- year youth trainee agreement.

And Rayner, who has been watched by Premiership and Nationwide clubs, has his sights set on eventually forcing his way into the first team.

"In England football is a way of life, and I will do everything I can to make it as a professional," said Rayner.

Cherries youth manager Terry Wateridge said: "Simon has great determination, we're pleased to have got him."
