Nowland delight at scoring return

Midfielder Adam Nowland has set his sights on earning a permanent contract at Blackpool after scoring on his return for the Seasiders.

Nowland is back at Bloomfield Road on non-contract terms following his release by Notts County, and scored in the 2-1 Carling Cup win against Crewe.

"It was a great moment for me, it's surreal," the 28-year-old told BBC Radio Lancashire.

"I hope I can stay here, prove what I can do and do well for the team."

Nowland has been battling to save his career since suffering a badly broken leg playing for Preston in January 2006, an injury that ruled him out of first-team football for 14 months.

"The gaffer asked me how long it had been, because he was a bit sceptical about my celebration," added Nowland.

"It's been about three-and-a-half years since I last scored."

The former West Ham man, who also had a spell at Nottingham Forest, said he is keen to rejoin the club he left for Wimbledon in June 2001.

"Everything is like do or die when your on trial," said Nowland.

"I have to thank the manager [Ian Holloway] for giving me a great opportunity here to re-establish myself.

"I hope I took my chance and we'll just have to see how it goes."
