Blackburn manager Mark Hughes says striker Jason Roberts deserved his chance to start up front for Rovers against West Ham on Saturday.
Rovers lost the game at Upton Park 2-1, but Hughes says Roberts caused a number of problems for the home side.
"Jason's been very patient," he told BBC Radio Lancashire.
"I thought he was one of our better performers and physically he was stronger and on another day he could have nicked a goal for us."

We need to win next time out because that'll get us back on track

Hughes also believes Rovers are still well-placed to push for Uefa Cup qualification.
"We need to win next time out because that'll get us back on track.
"We're in the same situation we were in prior to events today where we have to win more games than we lose."
