Birmingham City must stay grounded - Joe Hart

Hart has kept five clean sheets in 14 Premier League games for Blues

Birmingham City goalkeeper Joe Hart says everyone at the club will be keeping their feet on the ground despite their six-match unbeaten run.

Blues have climbed up to ninth in the Premier League table after claiming 14 points from their last six games.

"I don't think anyone's looking too far ahead about anything, we've just got to concentrate," Hart told BBC WM.

"It's a constant fight because the quality in this league's so high - we can't be thinking about next year."

Hart was one of a dozen Blues players who visited Birmingham Children's Hospital on Tuesday to visit youngsters likely to be spending the festive season on the wards.

He agreed to spend this season on loan from Manchester City to get more first-team football feels his decision proved to be a good one.

"Whether it's a World Cup year or there's nothing else that's what I'm about. I'm a footballer and that's all I want to do, play football," said the 22-year old.

"I felt really privileged to get the chance to come to Birmingham. I fell out of favour at Manchester City so it was really nice to get the opportunity to play here."

Even though Hart is down-playing his chances of travelling to South Africa next summer for the World Cup finals, Blues' impressive defensive record may not have escaped Fabio Capello's attention.

Alex McLeish's side have the fourth best defensive record in the Premier League and Hart certainly kept across last Friday's draw in Cape Town.

"I took interest, as every Englishman did in the country," he admitted.

"As well as trying to play in the team, even if I wasn't there I'd support them, so I had a keen interest."

And while Hart faces stiff competition for a place in Capello's final 23, he is making a strong case for his inclusion during his spell at St Andrew's.
