Bayliss confident despite defeat

Bayliss could go back into the loan market this week

Barrow joint-boss Dave Bayliss believes his side can still avoid relegation this season despite Tuesday night's 2-0 defeat at Histon.

The Bluebirds, who conceded twice late on, lie in the relegation places in the Blue Square Premier.

"If we show that same desire and determination we will stay up," Bayliss told BBC Radio Cumbria.

"We're confident we can do that. All we want is for the lads to give everything they've got and they did that."

The Bluebirds had seemed on course for a point at second-placed Histon before goals from Antonio Murray (84) and Daniel Wright (86) secured the win for the promotion hopefuls.

"They're not where they are for no reason," Bayliss said. "They're persistent and they keep on going."

"We can't ask any more of our players. They gave everything and it's a tough place to come.

"The lads heads did go down a bit after the goal but we'll get on with it and we'll turn up for another big game on Saturday."

We know we need strengthening and we will do it within our budget and our framework

Bayliss would not be drawn on the financial problems currently facing Saturday's opponents Northwich and more recently Weymouth.

"Other clubs finances are not our concern, we just need to look after ourselves," he said.

"Our club is run properly by a good board. We know we need strengthening and we will do it within our budget and our framework."

The Bluebirds boss has indicated that he could go back into the loan market after Bradford City recalled on-loan pair Luke Sharry and Louis Horne this week.

"We'll just after wait and see what happens," he said. "We knew it was going to be a difficult season for us and it is hard to attract players.

"But we'll see what happens. If the right one comes along we will get him," he added.
