Barnsley boss Simon Davey refused to pin any blame on striker Kayode Odejayi after his side's 1-0 FA Cup semi-final defeat to Cardiff at Wembley.

Odejayi wasted a glorious chance to equalise in the second half.

But Davey said: "He missed the target and he will be disappointed, but we lose together and we win together.

"We acquitted ourselves well and the players deserve credit. I don't think any of them froze on the day, we just fell short."

An early goal from Joe Ledley settled the tie, with the midfielder firing home after Barnsley had chances to clear.

He said: "They scored early and we had 80 minutes to get back in the game. We had chances but it wasn't to be.

"I am a bit disappointed we didn't win the second ball for the goal but it was a fantastic strike in the top corner - it was a goal that would befit any stage."

Davey had already shifted his attention to Championship survival in the immediate aftermath of Barnsley's Wembley defeat. The Tykes are currently third from bottom.

"Now we have another six cup finals to play. We hoped it would be seven but it is going to be six.

"This has put us back into the spotlight. Ten years ago this club was in the Premier League and we were on the big stage and hopefully we are now back on the right track.

"We have to make sure we stay in this division."
