Young given compassionate leave

Young has been given "as much time off as he needs"

Aston Villa defender Luke Young will miss Thursday's Europa League tie at Rapid Vienna following the death of his half-brother Andre.

Villa boss Martin O'Neill has given the England defender compassionate leave following the death of Andre Young while on holiday in Greece last week.

O'Neill said: "I'll give Luke all the time he needs. I know it's his half- brother but they were pretty close.

"It will take time. I don't think you can compare it to anything."

Young, 17, died on the island of Malia last week after suffering head injuries. Police are not treating the death as suspicious.

O'Neill added: "Luke came in the other day to do a little bit of work just to try and get his mind off things. I think it's devastating."
