Aston Villa captain Gareth Barry will put off all talks over his club future until after he returns from international duty with England.

Barry could skipper England against Trinidad & Tobago on Sunday but will decide whether he wants to leave Villa Park when he gets back.

"I'm aware of bids that have been made [from Liverpool] and so is the club," Barry told BBC Radio 5 Live.

"I'll start thinking about it when the Trinidad game is finished."

Villa are desperate to keep the 27-year-old, who impressed once again as a second-half substitute in Wednesday's 2-0 friendly win over the United States at Wembley.

If it [being named England captain] happens it'll be like fulfilling every young lad's dream

And Barry is keen to keep his focus on playing for his country for the time being.

"These two games have been penned in for a while and that's all I've been concentrating on," Barry continued.

Barry is thought to be challenging Rio Ferdinand for the captain's armband on Sunday.

He said: "If it happens it'll be like fulfilling every young lad's dream.

"I'm taking it [reports that he will be captain] with a pinch of salt at the moment. I won't think about it too much until I'm told."
