Stanley receive debt-relief offer

Accrington Stanley

The Accrington Stanley Supporters Fund (ASSF) have released details of another offer to relieve the club of all debt.

The ASSF have set a deadline of two weeks which, if accepted, would result in them becoming the major share-holder at the Crown Ground.

Chairman of the supporters fund Peter Shaw told BBC Radio Lancashire: "We would clear the club's debt absolutely.

"We felt it necessary to remind supporters that this offer was still on the table."

The ASSF claim the club's debt is substantially more than the £308,000 which is owed to Revenue and Customs by 27 October.

"I do hope that common sense prevails and that the club will see our offer for what it is. A genuine offer, to sustain the future of the club," added Mr Shaw.

Accrington Stanley's chief executive Rob Heys told BBC Radio Lancashire: "It's certainly an option the football club needs to look at. Of course, there are other options. Either the existing directors putting some money in to the club or some additional fund raising can be done in the time remaining.

"I think it would be great if we could find a way to keep the dialogue open and to find someway that everybody can come together.

"Whether that's by David O'Neil [Accrington chairman] perhaps relinquishing some of the control that he's got and maybe the supporter's fund taking that onboard. I think it's really important that we find a way."
