Simon Ford was red-carded after fouling Adam Hammill in the box
Dunfermline missed a great chance to boost their SPL survival hopes against 10-man Kilmarnock.

Steven Naismith put Kilmarnock in front after 10 minutes with a stunning volley from Rocco Quinn's cross.

Dunfermline restored parity after Simon Ford was red-carded for bringing down Adam Hammill in the box. Stevie Crawford scored from the spot.

But the Pars could not make their numerical superiority count as the visitors held on for a draw.

SPL basement side Dunfermline had failed to score in their last nine SPL games and last won in the league against Dundee United 12 matches ago in November.

Stephen Kenny was dealt a pre-match blow when striker Mark Burchill failed a late fitness test, and he was replaced by Jim Hamilton.

Jim Jefferies' team were out to retain their top-six place and welcomed ex-Par Colin Nish back into the starting line-up after suspension. Rhian Dodds missed out for the visitors.

After three minutes Crawford fed Hammill and the youngster cut in from the left to fire a 22-yard drive just over.

On-loan Hibs midfielder Stephen Glass then saw a dangerous free-kick nodded clear as the Fifers forced three quick corners.

But in-form Killie striker Steven Naismith served notice of what was to come when he broke clear on nine minutes and was only denied by Dorus De Vries' outstretched leg.

The striker was not to be denied second later Seconds later when he claimed his 15th goal of the season.

The Pars' defence claimed for offside when Quinn lofted a ball towards the box.

Naismith ignored the appeals to volley home from 15 yards.

Dunfermline came roaring back and a had a number of half-chances before finding an equaliser on the stroke of half-time.

Ford fouled Hammill in the box and the referee pointed to the spot, before showing the Kilmarnock defender the red card.

Crawford scored from the spot to give Pars hope of a first SPL win in 13 attempts.

Scott Wilson spurned a great chance to put the Pars ahead when he shot wide after Crawford's cut-back.

Despite Dunfermline enjoying the majority of possession, Kilmarnock keeper Alan Combe did not have too many saves to make.

Simmons saw a looping header held by Combe after 53 minutes and the visitors stood firm for the rest of the game to earn a share of the spoils.
