Airdrie United leapfrogged Queen of the South in the First Division table with a fully-deserved victory.

The in-form home side opened the scoring after 31 minutes through Owen Coyle's close-range header.

Brian McLaughlin missed two chances to bring a quick equaliser and the visitors continued to squander opportunities after the break.

And, 16 minutes from time, Alan Gow's classy, curling finish made sure of a victory that puts Airdrie into fifth.
