Ayr United 1-1 Morton
Morton lifted themselves off the foot of the table thanks to a last-minute equaliser from veteran midfielder Harry Curran.

Ayr goalkeeper Craig Nelson had made a superb save to deny Robbie Raeside, but Curran stole in to prod home the rebound.

The home side had taken the lead through Pat McGinlay but missed out on the chance of gaining significant ground in the promotion race.

With Livingston idle due to their involvement in the Challenge Cup final and Falkirk losing for the second week in a row, Ayr looked to be on their way to an important result until Curran struck.

Both banned

Ayr had started without striker Glynn Hurst and defender John Hughes, who are both banned.

Former Ayr man Andy Millen and fellow defender David Murie were missing for Morton.

After a goalless first half, Ayr had edged in front in 52 minutes thanks to McGinlay's seventh goal of the season.

A Gary Teale cross was punched out by goalkeeper Andy Carlin and returned by Steven Boyack for former Hibernian midfielder McGinlay to nod home at the back post.

Ayr looked like adding to their lead, with Teale and Boyack both going close.

However, just when they looked like holding on for the win that would have taken them into second spot, Curran denied them at the death.

Ayr: Nelson, McEwan, Renwick, Craig, Lovering, Teale, Boyack, McGinlay, H. Robertson, Annand, Bradford.

Subs: Wilson, Scally, Rovde, McVeigh, Reynolds.

Morton: Carlin, S. McDonald, Anderson, Raeside, Davies, Tweedie, Curran, Aitken, P. McDonald, Matheson, Whalen.

Subs: Boukkra, Naylor, McGregor, Robb, Maxwell.

Referee: B McGarry.
