Airdrie United ended East of Scotland side Spartans' hopes of a Scottish Cup shock with a narrow victory.
Spartans had just squandered a good chance when Simon Lynch and Paul Di Giacomo played a neat one-two that was finished by the latter striker.
Lynch slid home the Division One side's second after a goalkeeping error.
Gavin Malin pulled one back when his shot slipped past Stevie Robertson and Spartans had a later effort ruled out for a foul on the goalkeeper.
Airdrie United manager Kenny Black:
"I'm delighted to progress but that's the only positive from the game.
"Conditions were poor, the ball was sticking in the water and we found it difficult in the second half.
"All the credit must go to Spartans. They had a go and made life difficult for us. We didn't adapt to the conditions as well as I'd have liked. Too often the player were looking for a perfect pass.
"At half time I was desperate for game to continue but when Spartans scored I was 50/50."
Spartans manager Mike Lawson:
"We're very disappointed. I think we should have got a draw and replay.
"I've got to admire the referee for playing in conditions like that but if you decide to continue then you have to allow our second 'goal' to stand.
"I haven't see it again but when ball is sticking in mud and the goalie fails to pick it up and our guy puts it in the net then you would think the 'goal' would stand.
"For their second goal, our goalie dropped it and he was diving on the line trying to catch it and it got kicked in."
