Derry trial for Swedish defender

Stephen Kenny is interested in signing Gabriel Ucar

Derry City are to give a trial to former Sweden Under-21 international defender Gabriel Ucar.

Ucar, 26, was due to arrive in Derry on Monday, in time to go on the Eircom League club's warm weather training trip to Portugal.

Regular left-back Sean Hargan and Mark McCrystal have been out injured.

"Ucar has been recommended and will spend a week with us. He has good experience in the Swedish Premier Division," said manager Stephen Kenny.

Hargan has not played in the pre-season friendlies because of injury and McCrystal, who has often deputised for Hargan, is to have a pin inserted in a metatarsal.
