Peter Crouch insists England will not be taking Saturday's World Cup qualifier in Kazakhstan lightly.

England have a 100% record in the qualifiers under coach Fabio Capello and thrashed Kazakhstan 5-1 in October.

"It's a game we are expected to win, but we have to be cautious to ensure we get the right result," said the 28-year-old Portsmouth striker.

"We're feeling fresh, we knew at the start of the season we'd have this game and we are mentally prepared."

Saturday's tie in Almaty is followed by a home qualifier against Andorra on 10 June but Crouch says England will not take the Group Six minnows for granted.

"They are games we are expected to win. If we get these six points I think we only need three to make absolutely certain, so it's a great position.

"But there is the potential to slip up, especially going to play somewhere you haven't been before, so we have to do a professional job.

"I can't say I've ever been to Kazakhstan on holiday. It is something different, something new and exciting and we have got to make sure we are professional about it."

Crouch got on the scoresheet in April's 2-1 home win against Ukraine and hopes that his performance against the Ukrainians will have been sufficient to win a starting place for the upcoming qualifiers.

He has scored 13 goals from 15 starts and another two strikes as a substitute and Capello is expected to choose either Crouch or Aston Villa's Emile Heskey.

"Hopefully the manager will bear me in mind when the team is selected.

"Everyone wants to start games but it's not always the case. The way we play is with one main striker up front and that's been Heskey.

"I got my chance because of the injuries but I felt like I did well enough."

England are widely expected to clinch six points against the bottom two countries in Group Six in their quest for early qualification for the finals in South Africa next summer.

"It is something we have to make sure we get right," added Crouch.

"That is why we are going out there early to try to get the time difference right and make sure we are ready come kick-off on Saturday.

"They are a decent side, they play the right way and have got some talented players.

"We don't want to take our foot off the gas to make sure we qualify for South Africa as soon as possible."
