Marks out of 10 for England after their international friendly against Spain.
Paul Robinson - 7: (STAR MAN) Harshly adjudged to have fouled Raul for the penalty but then made amends with a fine stop.
Gary Neville - 6: Showed Reyes no mercy with some crunching challenges. Fine last-ditch tackle to save certain goal.
John Terry - 7: A typical no-nonsense display at the back on his return to the England starting line-up. Solid rather than spectacular.
Rio Ferdinand - 6: Tested by the pace of Torres but showed a quick pair of heels. He was guilty of some careless passing.
Ashley Cole - 5: A below-par performance. Beaten twice by Joaquin and showed an alarming lack of self-control just before half-time.
Wayne Bridge - 6: Almost put Rooney through early on. Tracked back well but could offer little in attack in partnership with Cole.
Nicky Butt - 5: Alongside Frank Lampard he came off easily second best to Spain's dominant central midfield pair.
Frank Lampard - 5: Not one of his best displays in an England shirt. He struggled to have any sort of impact on the game.
David Beckham - 6: Some useful long-range passes and eager to impress on his club ground, but he had little influence on the game.
Wayne Rooney - 4: Fortunate to avoid a booking for reckless challenge on Joaquin. Earned a yellow for needless push on Casillas. Embarrassingly substituted before half-time.
Michael Owen - 6: Was close to getting on the end of some long balls over the top but kept quiet and unable to add to his recent scoring run.
Alan Smith (Replaced Rooney, 42 mins) - 6: Profited from Rooney's indiscretions but unable to take advantage. Gave the usual maximum effort.
Shaun Wright-Phillips (Replaced Beckham, 60 mins) - 6:
Like Cole, was the victim of vile racist chants whenever he touched the ball. Shot over the bar late on.
Jermaine Jenas (Replaced Lampard, 60 mins) - 6: Largely reduced to chasing shadows in the centre of the park.
Jamie Carragher (Replaced Ferdinand, 62 mins) - 6: Given a 30-minute run out at centre half. A steady head at the back.
Matthew Upson (Replaced Terry, 65 mins) - 6:
Formed an inexperienced partnership with Carragher. Hardly tested as the game ran out of steam.
Jermain Defoe (Replaced Cole, 77 mins) - 6: Thrown on as a last resort but unable to manage to help England get their first shot on target.
