Man City 3-1 Scunthorpe
Andy Keogh celebrates giving Scunthorpe a shock lead at Man City
Robbie Fowler hit a hat-trick in his first start of the season to spare Manchester City's blushes as they came from behind to beat Scunthorpe.

Fowler drilled in from Lee Croft's pass just after half-time and curled home another soon after, a left-foot shot from the edge of the penalty area.

He completed his treble from the spot after Michael Rose fouled Sun Jihai.

Andy Keogh had given Scunthorpe a shock early lead, racing clear of the City defence and slotting past David James.

City had more possession early on but it was the visitors who created the first chance, Ian Baraclough fizzing a free-kick wide after Stephen Jordan had fouled Cleveland Taylor.

Then, after Fowler lashed a shot off target, the League One side opened the scoring.

Cliff Byrne's apparently harmless through ball found a way to Keogh, who raced clear and slotted coolly past James with Richard Dunne claiming offside.

Keogh nearly made it 2-0 as James raced from his area to clear while only a Sylvain Distin clearance prevented Billy Sharp from getting on the scoresheet.

City hit back with Joey Barton twice going close before drawing level and then going ahead after the break.

In the space of just 17 minutes, Scunthorpe's FA Cup dreams were dashed by Fowler's clinical finishing.
