Champions League clockwatch
Liverpool 1-0 Chelsea (first leg 0-0)

Goalflashes and major incidents (all times BST):

2137: It's over. Chelsea will have to settle for the Premiership and Carling Cup and Liverpool can look forward to their first European Cup final in 20 years.

2136: Eidur Gudjohnsen flashes a shot across the face of goal. If it had gone in, Chelsea are in the final on away goals. But Liverpool escape.

2135: One minute to go.

2134: A defensive lapse puts in Cisse but his stabbed effort is saved by Petr Cech.

2133: We are halfway through the added-on time. Liverpool are keeping the ball deep in Chelsea territory. Not long now for the Reds supporters biting their fingernails on the terraces.

2130: A massive blow for Liverpool as the Slovakian referee decides there will be an extra six minutes of injury time. Chelsea have their tails up again.

2130: One minute is left. Liverpool are seconds away from a Champions League final. Cisse fires just wide and a deflection on the shot gives the Reds a corner - and precious time.

2125: There are five minutes left. Liverpool, for two decades out of the biggest European spotlight, are on the verge of one of their most famous victories ever.

2118: Cisse heads straight at Cech from a good position. A 2-0 Liverpool lead would have ended this tie, but there is life in Chelsea yet.

2116: Geremi is withdrawn as Robert Huth goes on. Mourinho has thrown his last dice. Now it is over to his players to decide what happens to the self-entitled "special one".

2115: Jamie Carragher, who has had an heroic night, throws himself into a shot by Robben. Now Chelsea are pouring forward, and the Reds have a little over quarter of an hour to hold out for what would be a true glory night.

2113: Harry Kewell is on for Hamann. It is an interesting decision by Benitez, who clearly is not settled on defending for the remaining 17 minutes.

2109: Enter Arjen Robben. Joe Cole is sacrificed so that Chelsea's barely-fit talisman Robben can enter the fray, and Mourinho also sends on Kezman for Tiago.

2107: Frank Lampard's powerful free-kick is brilliantly kept out by Jerzy Dudek. Will that save prove significant later?

2105: As Gudjohnsen takes a pot-shot from distance, Chelsea are becoming increasingly frustrated. Jose Mourinho reacts by preparing to send on Mateja Kezman. The Blues badly need to get into this tie - and quick.

2100: Liverpool boss Rafael Benitez makes the first substitution of the night. Djibril Cisse replaces Milan Baros as the solo Reds frontman.

2055: Ten minutes into the second period and Liverpool are still settled in a routine. Chelsea have not made an early breakthrough but there is a long, long way to go.

2045: The second half resumes. Neither team has made a substitution.

2031: HALF-TIME Liverpool 1-0 Chelsea
Liverpool are 45 minutes away from their first European Cup final appearance in 20 years - since that tragic night in Heysel. But Chelsea, with Robben, Forssell and Kezman on the bench, will be doing everything in the second period to get back into this.

2028: Three minutes to half-time. Liverpool will be desperate to go in at the break still one goal to the good.

2015: Didier Drogba is offside looking for a long ball forward - but Chelsea are sneaking more and more into this semi-final second leg.

2008: Hearts-in-mouths time for Liverpool as Frank Lampard robs Luis Garcia and, instead of shooting, finds Joe Cole, whose cross drops harmlessly for a defender.

2007: Steven Gerrard sttempts to pick out Luis Garcia with a cross-field pass, but William Gallas is alert enough to snuff out the danger. Still the Reds are slightly on top.

1959: Chelsea break into the Liverpool box for the first significant attack - but Didier Drogba is robbed as he tried to cut in.

1958: Both teams are playing decent stuff - it's a much better advertisement for the Premiership than the turgid first leg.

1951: Milan Baros gets the first booking of the evening. He is not one of the players who are one caution away from missing the final should his team get there.

1948: GOAL Liverpool 1-0 Chelsea
Liverpool grab the opening goal - and after just three minutes. Milan Baros is clattered by Petr Cech as he closes in on goal - and the ball breaks for Luis Garcia who slots home, with the ball only just crossing the line.
Would Cech have been sent off had the ball not gone in? Reds fans do not care - Anfield is rocking.

1945: The second leg of this tie, poised at 0-0, gets under way at Anfield.

Team news:

Both teams make one change from the first leg - but only Liverpool's is enforced.

The Reds draft in experienced Dietmar Hamann to replace the suspended Xabi Alonso, while Chelsea drop Glen Johnson and stick with Geremi, having done the same against Bolton on Saturday.
