Shevchenko eyes Milan final glory
Andriy Shevchenko is convinced AC Milan's two-goal cushion against PSV Eindhoven in the Champions League semi-final will prove decisive.

The Ukrainian struck in the first-half, but substitute Jon Dahl Tomasson's second in injury time was crucial.

Shevchenko said: "Milan had a good strategy of counter attacks. Tomasson's goal was very important, a two-goal advantage is huge - vital for us.

"I'm extremely pleased because it was a very difficult match for us."

Shevchenko added: "I'm exhausted because I ran for 90 minutes, they have a slow pace but they control the ball well, they never give it away.

"We now have breathing room. I'm pleased for Tomasson because he's had a difficult season,. But now he's at his maximum, Filippo Inzaghi is back, there's Crespo and me. Good for the final."

PSV Eindhoven captain Mark van Bommel was frustrated after watching his side dominate for long periods - and accepts they now face an uphill task to reach the final.

He said: "In the first half we were solid except for one moment. In the second half I don't think I'm exaggerating if I say we outplayed them. We had five chances.

"They should have it," he said. "You have to score against them twice. That's going to be unbelievably difficult."

PSV coach Guus Hiddink said: "At 1-0 it would be more possible but now it is difficult. But the lads were saying in the dressing room that next week we are not going to surrender. "There were large parts of the second half where we were so dominant and, of course, if you have such control than it is very frustrating to get a result like this.

"It is one thing if you are simply blown away by a major powerhouse but if you are superior like we were after the break it is frustrating."

Milan coach Carlo Ancelotti said: "We can say we have the cake and now we're just missing the cherry on top.

"We're closer to the final than PSV, but we'll have to prepare very well for the return leg, seeing how tough they were."
