France goalkeeper Fabien Barthez will retire after the 2006 World Cup.
Barthez won the European Cup with Marseille in 1992
"I am 33 years old. There are not many seasons left for me," he said. "I'll call a halt from all football in 2006."
Barthez, who is preparing for the World Cup qualifiers, has won 73 caps and the 1998 World Cup and Euro 2000 since making his international debut in 1994.
He has played his club football at Toulouse, Olympique Marseille, Monaco and Manchester United and is presently in his second spell with Marseille.
