Legend Zidane to retire in 2007
Real Madrid midfielder Zinedine Zidane
Real Madrid midfielder Zinedine Zidane has announced he will retire from football in 2007 at the latest.

Zidane, 32, wants the contract he signed last year to be his final one and the Frenchman has already quit the international scene after Euro 2004.

"I won't go any further than 2007 when my contract ends," said Zidane.

"At the latest I'll end my career then. Stopping before is not on my agenda but who knows? I won't go further than 2007 but I would like to go all the way."

Zidane put an end to his international career after last summer's tournament in Portugal with 93 caps and 26 goals.

He added: "I'm no longer part of France's team but I watch them as a fan. The most important thing is for them to go to the World Cup.

"Little by little, the team has changed but it remains something special to me."
