Perez wins landslide vote
Florentino Perez
Florentino Perez has been voted in for a second term as president of Real Madrid by a landslide margin.

The 57-year-old won 94.25% of the 30,151 votes cast, beating rivals Arturo Baldasano and Lorenzo Sanz.

"The voice of the Real Madrid members has been expressed clearly and emphatically," said Perez.

"The attention of all Spain has been on the members of Real Madrid because of the importance of the event and thanks to all those who have voted."

Overall, 47.56% of the 65,197 members who were entitled to vote took part in the election, a lower turnout than the last poll.

Former president Sanz polled just 4.05% of the votes and the third candidate Arturo Baldasano gained 1.7%.

"Today Real Madrid has won and the future has won," added Perez.

"I know what challenges I face after this victory and I take on this responsibility in the knowledge that the only limits of Real Madrid are the dreams of it members."

As the votes were being counted, Perez revealed he had been negotiating with European champions Porto to sign defender Ricardo Carvalho and midfielder Costinha.
