The Brazilian came on for the second half
Ronaldinho made his debut as a second-half substitute as Barcelona beat Juventus in a penalty shoot-out after a 2-2 draw.

The 23-year-old Brazilian appeared after the interval and converted his attempt in the shoot-out to complete a successful debut.

"I'm very happy to play my first match, score my first goal and help earn a victory," he said afterwards.

Argentine Javier Saviola scored twice to give Barcelona a 2-0 lead at half-time.

But Juventus staged a late rally with Marco De Vaio getting a goal back in the 86th minute before Fabrizio Miccoli equalised a minute later.

Defender Carlos Puyol converted the deciding penalty in the shoot-out.

New Barcelona coach Frank Rijkaard was quick to praise Ronaldinho for his opening effort.

"He has something special every time he touches the ball," Rijkaard said. "And it's clear that he is always happy on the field.

"This is somthing wonderful for our team, something that we need. Playing professional football is serious business, but it should also be fun."
