Baros buoyed up for Greeks

Milan Baros wheels away in celebration after scoring against Denmark
Goal hero Milan Baros admitted he was in dreamland after his double strike booked the Czech Republic a Euro 2004 semi-final date with Greece.

"If somebody told me beforehand I would score five goals in this tournament I wouldn't have believed them," he said.

"It is a dream come true but the most important thing is we are in the semi-finals and we have to be ready.

"Greece are good defensively and very strong so it is going to be a different game but I am looking forward to it."

Baros dismissed the suggestion that the Czechs will start strong favourites after reeling off their fourth victory in as many games.

"I don't think we are favourites," added the Liverpool striker. "We said before the tournament we would take it game by game and we will see where we finish.

We just couldn't score from the chances we had

"Now we are in the semi-final and if we win we are in the final. If not, we go home."

Baros admitted he was surprised by the margin of victory over Denmark after the Danes enjoyed the better of the first half.

"We knew beforehand it was going to be difficult because they played well in their three group games," he stated.

"But the important thing was we scored the first goal. Then they started to play more offensively and we managed to score two more."

Czech coach Karel Bruckner believes his decision to rest nine players for their final group game against Germany paid dividends against Denmark.

"We had enough energy and power because of the match against Germany," Bruckner said.

"And of course it was not only energy and power but the top quality of our players."
