O'Driscoll hails super Cherries
Bournemouth celebrate receiving the Division Three play-off trophy
Bournemouth celebrate winning promotion

Bournemouth manager Sean O'Driscoll expressed his joy after the 5-2 Division Three play-off final win over Lincoln in Cardiff.

The Cherries took the lead through veteran striker Steve Fletcher, only for Ben Futcher to equalise for the Imps.

But Bournemouth got their noses in front just before half-time through Carl Fletcher and took command of the final shortly after the start of the second period.

Stephen Purches and Garreth O'Connor took the game beyond Lincoln and even when Mark Bailey pulled one back, Carl Fletcher soon restored his team's three-goal advantage.

And after relegation from Division Two last season, O'Driscoll was relieved that his team won their first ever play-off final top seal an instant return.

We were disappointed to get relegated last season - hopefully this makes up for it

"I'm delighted for everybody," said O'Driscoll.

"Both teams don't score that many goals so we have kept the best till last, but we have another gear to go up now.

"We scored against the run of play and I thought we were really poor for the first 25 minutes, I think the atmosphere got to the players.

"But the goal brought confidence and having got our noses in front we played really well.

"We were disappointed to get relegated last season - the defeat at Wrexham on the final day was terrible - and hopefully this makes it up to the people of Bournemouth."

Lincoln boss Keith Alexander was disappointed to be on the wrong end of a heavy defeat.

"I'm proud with what we have done but if we had defended like that all season we would have been relegated," said the Imps boss.

"It's not the day to have your worst defensive display of the season.

"But the players have worked hard to get here and hopefully we will get automatic promotion next season."
