Bristol Rovers' win over play-off chasing Kidderminster ensured their Third Division survival following Halifax's defeat at Darlington.

The Yorkshire side were relegated from the Football League for the second time after Sergio Ommel's 88th-minute winner.

Ommel's strike spared Rovers' blushes against a Kidderminster side who finished with eight men.

The visitors had defender Abdou Sall red-carded after only five minutes for a foul on James Thomas.

Managerless Harriers then lost goalkeeper Gary Montgomery in first-half injury time for deliberate handball.

Ian Foster was the last to be dismissed for dissent after Ommel's winner.

James Quinn fired Rovers ahead from the penalty spot after Sall's foul, but Drewe Broughton shot Harriers level on 36 minutes.

The visitors had good cause to feel hard done by as the penalty incident appeared outside the box.

Montgomery's red card was also extremely harsh as an attempted clearance rebounded straight at him.

Rovers were grateful for a win that guaranteed survival. It was secured when Ommel volleyed home following a left-wing corner.
