Tranmere 2-1 Carlisle

Tranmere secured a hard-earned win against Carlisle in a game which saw three penalty misses.

Peter Murphy blasted over from the spot after Rovers' Tim Cathalina handled, before Ian Goodison fired in from 20-yards to give Tranmere the lead.

Carlisle keeper Adam Collin then saved penalties from Ian Thomas-Moore and Aaron Creswell.

James Berrett equalised with a neat 12-yard finish but Thomas-Moore turned in the winner from Enoch Showunmi's cross.

Tranmere manager Les Parry told BBC Radio Merseyside:

"I thought the lads were absolutely tremendous and I think the supporters have gone home happy.

"They started better than us but we finished the stronger side.

"They started the second half better than us as well, but as the game went on I was getting more comfortable and I had a feeling we'd sneak another goal."
