Swansea   2 - 0   Leicester

New boy Marvin Emnes fired a debut goal to move Swansea City up to third and help condemn Sven-Goran Eriksson to his first defeat as Leicester City manager.

The on-loan half-time substitute took just four minutes to open his Swans account as Emnes sprinted onto Darren Pratley's pass to fire the ball home.

Scott Sinclair then hit the bar before Swansea's top-scorer fired his 10th goal of the season in added-time.

Emnes was Sinclair's provider as the Swans extended their unbeaten home run.

The former Dutch under-21 international replaced Stephen Dobbie at the break and the man on loan from Middlesbrough instantly brought the game into life.

He out-muscled covering Leicester defender Curtis Davies, himself on loan from Aston Villa, to power his effort past Leicester keeper Chris Weale from the edge of the area to maintain Swansea's play-off push at the Liberty Stadium.

Swansea deserved win - Eriksson

Swansea had only beaten Leicester once in nine meetings stretching back to 1956 and the opening period was a tense tussle before Emnes made an impact.

Pratley, though, should have opened the scoring inside 15 minutes when Stephen Dobbie teed-up the Swans midfielder but he could not keep his shot down.

Within a few minutes, it was the Swansea defence under siege as Matty Fryatt almost scored with a close-range header but Swans stopper de Vries made a useful save.

Centre-back Davies had the best chance of the opening half when the Leicester defender brought the best out of de Vries as he tipped over a Davies header from Lloyd Dyer's cross.

But Davies, a one-time England call-up, was found wanting at the back when he let Emnes sprint free to score just his second league goal since his £3.2m move to English football from Sparta Rotterdam.

Emnes' only league strike for Middlesbrough was also at the Liberty Stadium in a 3-0 victory for the Teessiders last season.

But this time he earned the cheers of the home fans, especially when he sprinted down the right wing to square the ball to in-form winger Sinclair who poked the the ball past Weale in the 94th minute.
