Sheff Wed 2-2 Crystal Palace

Matthew Lawrence lashed home a last-gasp equaliser to deny Sheffield Wednesday and salvage a point for play-off chasing Crystal Palace.

Both sides hit the bar early on before the Owls took the lead when Ben Sahar fired home from 12 yards.

The Eagles drew level when Ben Watson curled in a superb 25-yard free-kick.

Wade Small's close-range shot restored the home side's lead after the break but Palace levelled in injury time when Lawrence scored following a corner.

  • Sheffield Wednesday boss Brian Laws:
"We didn't look like a struggling side. We just needed to finish Palace off.

"But if we perform like that and show the desire we'll win a lot of games. We're playing with a lot of confidence and we kept our run going.

"We have got the mental attitude and toughness to cope."

  • Crystal Palace boss Neil Warnock:
"We've got a never-give-up attitude. I'd rather be at the top end of the table than the bottom.

"We threw all the big men forward at the end and our goalkeeper was marking their striker at the end."
