Coventry 2-0 Leicester
Elliott Ward's first league goal in almost a year set Chris Coleman on the way to a winning start as Coventry boss against Leicester at the Ricoh Arena.

Ward opened the scoring from the spot just after the half hour after Gareth McAuley had tangled with Leon Best.

And Best wrapped up the victory with a neat finish into the far corner after being set free by Kevin Thornton.

The win was marred by an injury to Stephen Hughes who suffered a suspected broken jaw in the first minute.

  • Coventry boss Chris Coleman:
"It was a gutsy performance. They attempted to do what I asked. The work ethic is fantastic, and they are better on the ball than they think.

"What pleased me most was how quickly the players adapted to what I asked in such a short space of time.

"I believe we have the players to move away from the bottom end of the table."

    Leicester boss Ian Holloway:
"I felt the game was ruined by one of the maddest decisions I have ever seen.

"I have seen their centre-forward go through. I have seen my centre-half fouled, and then the referee made a decision no-one could understand.

"I am gob-smacked. It has ruined my weekend, but I will be okay on Monday."
