1458 What a frantic climax to the league season. With all the matches now complete. We now know that Derby will play Southampton and West Brom will play Wolves in the play-off semi-finals.

1456: The final whistle sounds at St Mary's to complete the afternoon's fixtures. The top six is decided and it looks like this: Sunderland (champions), Birmingham (automatic promotion), Derby, West Brom, Wolves and Southampton (all play-offs).

1454: GOAL: Derby 2-0 Leeds
Tyrone Mears completes a miserable season for Leeds as he bags the Rams' second. Derby will finish third.

1453: Final whistles blow around the grounds and Birmingham miss out on the chance to win the the title with a 1-0 defeat at Preston. However, Preston's win is not enough to earn them a place in the play-offs. Sunderland are champions after a crushing defeat of Luton while the other play-off spots go to West Brom, Wolves and Southampton who all won.

1450: GOAL: Luton 0-5 Sunderland
David Connolly seals a comprehensive performance for the Black Cats who are now minutes away from winning the Championship title.

1448: GOAL: Southampton 4-1 Southend
Saints march on and grab two goals in as many minutes. Gareth Bale is once again at the centre of the attacks and first Leon Best adds to his earlier strike before Kenwyne Jones does likewise. Saints are surely assured of a spot in the play-offs.

1445: GOAL: QPR 1-1 Stoke
Mamady Sidibe's stike gives the Potters hope of reaching the play-offs. Their chances are still slim but if results change elsewhere, they could sneak in.

1443: GOAL: Preston 1-0 Birmingham
Simon Whaley races on to a long ball and profits from hesitant defending by Colin Doyle and sweeps home. That goal surely wrecks Birmingham's chances of lifting the Championship trophy.

1442: RED CARD
Leeds youngster Robert Baily picks up a straight red card in the match at Pride Park.

1440: GOAL: Ipswich 3-1 Cardiff
Jonathan Walters grabs his second and Ipswich's third to seal a comfortable afternoon for the home side.

1438: GOAL: Sheffield Wednesday 3-2 Norwich
It won't make much difference to the top or bottom of the table but Dion Dublin nets for Norwich.

1436: No changes to the 'as it stands' situation. West Brom are definitely there along with Derby. Wolves look to be cruising as do Southampton who are beating Southend.

1435: Gary McSheffrey misses a second glorious chance to give Birmingham the lead. The former Coventry striker was again left unmarked at the far post but could not direct his header on target from six yards out.

1433: GOAL: West Brom 7-0 Barnsley
This is getting embarrassing for Barnsley. Substitute Zoltan Gera gets on the scoresheet, sweeping the ball past David Lucas.

1432: GOAL: West Brom 6-0 Barnsley
A hat-trick for Kevin Phillips as West Brom punish some lax Barnsley defending. Zoltan Gera motors into the penalty box before slipping the ball to Phillips, who guides a shot past David Lucas.

1431: RED CARD
QPR's Sampska Timoska becomes the second player to pick up a red this afternoon after collecting two yellow cards against Stoke. Will that be the catalyst for a Stoke siege?

1429: GOAL: Colchester 0-2 Crystal Palace
Ben Watson ends Colchester's remote chances of making the play-offs with a fine strike.

1428: GOAL: Ipswich 2-1 Cardiff
Substitute Jonathan Walters races clear and slots home for close range to put Ipswich ahead.

1426: GOAL: Burnley 1-2 Coventry
Paul McVeigh pulls one back for Coventry.

1424: RED CARD
Leicester's afternoon goes from bad to worse as Patrick Kisnorbo receives his second yellow card for a wild lunge. He can have no complaints and Leicester face an uphill struggle if they are to deny their rivals a place in the top six.

1422: GOAL: Hull 1-2 Plymouth
Plymouth extend their lead through Sylvain Ebanks-Blake only to concede a minute later as Stuart Elliot gives Hull hope.

1420: GOAL: Burnley 0-2 Coventry
In the dead rubber game Coventry move ahead through Jay Tabb's 55th-minute effort.

1417: GOAL: Southampton 2-1 Southend
Crucial strike for Saints as Leon Best fires his side ahead - a goal that would guarantee them a place in the play-offs.

1415: GOAL: Sheffield Wednesday 3-0 Norwich
Another own goal as Dickson Etuhu puts through his own net to deepen Norwich's woes.

1413: GOAL: West Brom 5-0 Barnsley
West Brom show no sign of easing up against Barnsley. Kevin Phillips scores his second of the game, arrowing a shot past David Lucas from outside the box.

1411: GOAL: Leicester 1-3 Wolves
Fortunate but important goal for Wolves as Gareth McAuley slides the ball past his own keeper for Wolves' third.

1409: GOAL: Luton 0-3 Sunderland
It's a rout at Kennilworth Road as Daryl Murphy grabs his second of the afternoon to give the dominant Black Cats one hand on the Championship title.

1407: Gary McSheffrey somehow misses the target with a header from five yards out. Niklas Bendtner's clipped cross to the back post finds the striker who fails to finish the easiest of chances.

1405: Paul Robinson's cross-cum-shot almost catches out David Lucas but the keeper does well to tip the effort over the bar to keep the scoreline at 4-0. It's party time at the Hawthorns.

1402 We're back in play around the grounds for the crucial final 45 minutes of the season.

1400 West Brom are strolling but Preston are toiling. The Baggies look to have secured their place in the play-offs, while Preston are throwing the kitchen sink at Birmingham in search of a crucial goal that would see them leapfrog Southampton into sixth.

1357: GOAL: Derby 1-0 Leeds
Leeds miserable season looks like ending on a further bad note. Darren Currie nets to put Derby - already guaranteed third spot - ahead in the lengthy injury-time period at the end of the first half.

1352 So, after a brief pause to catch my breath, I can inform you that as it stands Derby, West Brom, Wolves and Southampton occupy the play-off places. It's as you were at the start of the matches, however a goal for Preston would move them into the top six while Stoke need to turn things around at QPR.

1350: GOAL: Sheffield Wednesday 2-0 Norwich
Right on the stroke of half-time a corner fizzes across the six-yard box and Deon Burton is on hand to blast home from close range.

1348 Preston are completely dominant at Deepdale but have yet to find the vital breakthrough. As things stands, had one of the numerous chances that they've missed would be enough to put them in the play-offs. The whistle blows for half-time and Preston will be scratching their heads as to how they're not ahead.

1346: GOAL Hull 0-1 Plymouth
David Norris' cross to the back post finds Peter Halmosi who powers his header home from close in.

1344: Birmingham are slowly getting into the game and Sebastian Larsson crashes a shot against the bar. Will Preston pay for not making the most of their early dominance?

1343: GOAL Burnley 0-1 Coventry
With the very first shot of a dour match, Michael Mifsud puts the Sky Blues ahead in the dead rubber against Burnley.

1341: GOAL West Brom 4-0 Barnsley
The Baggies are running riot at The Hawthorns. Robert Koren, who has been a key influence for West Brom, caps a fine first-half performance with a goal reminiscent of Gianfranco Zola at his best. Jonathan Greening crosses from the left and Koren, with his feet off the ground, scores with a deft left-footed flick.

1340: GOAL Ipswich 1-1 Cardiff
Paul Parry levels up for Cardiff with a close-range header.

1337: GOAL West Brom 3-0 Barnsley
Nathan Ellington's power and pace is causing the Barnsley defence all sorts of problems and he puts West Brom out of sight with a determined strike. He raced through some weak challenges and confidently volleyed home to put West Brom in the box seat for a play-off place.

1334: GOAL Leicester 1-2 Wolves
Michael Kightly puts Wolves ahead for the first time with a cheeky back-heel. Conrad Logan did well to parry his first effort, but could do nothing to stop the second.

1331: GOAL Southampton 1-1 Southend
Gareth Bale's dinked cross after an exquisite run finds Kenwyne Jones who nods home at the far post.

1328: GOAL West Brom 2-0 Barnsley
Luke Potter is not having the sort of debut he might have wished for. The teenager fouls the tricky Robert Koren inside the box and Nathan Ellington is calmness personified as he waits for goalkeeper David Lucas to commit himself before rolling the ball into the other side of the net from the spot.

1328: GOAL Sheffield Wednesday 1-0 Norwich
Wonderful effort from Jermaine Johnson leaves Tony Warner with no chance with a low strike that nestles neatly in the bottom corner.

1326: GOAL Leicester 1-1 Wolves
Andy Keogh's header was not cleared properly and George Olofinjana smashed it home from no more than three yards out to put Wolves back into contention.

1323: GOAL West Brom 1-0 Barnsley
A typical Kevin Phillips finish gives the Baggies a crucial lead. Paul McShane's fine work down the left created the chance and with the Barnsley defence unable to clear their lines, Phillips was on hand to slot home from close in.

1321: Preston are all over Birmingham like a rash. Brett Ormerod races through on goal but Stephen Kelly makes up good ground to put the striker off his stride and the ball trickles wide for another corner to the home side.

1319: Long stoppage at Pride Park as referee Phil Crossley requires treatment for an injury. The oxygen masks are out and he won't be able to continue.

1316: GOAL Southampton 0-1 Southend
Centre-back Adam Barrett crashes in a volley to give Southend a surprise lead at St Mary's.

1315: Preston have made a lively start at Deepdale and David Nugent almost puts them ahead but his shot slams off the outside off the post from 12 yards after Birmingham fail to clear a free-kick.

1312: GOAL Colchester 0-1 Crystal Palace
Colchester's remote chances of a top-six finish suffer a blow as James Scowcroft puts the visitors ahead.

1310: GOAL QPR 1-0 Stoke
Martin Rowlands opens the scoring for the Hoops and offsets Stoke's slim chances of finishing among the play-off places.

1308: GOAL Luton 0-2 Sunderland
A dream start for Sunderland, as a blistering drive from Daryl Murphy doubles their lead with less than 10 minutes on the clock.

1306: GOAL Luton 0-1 Sunderland
A smart finish from Anthony Stokes gives Sunderland the lead and puts them in the lead in the race for the title.

1305: GOAL: Ipswich 1-0 Cardiff
The hosts take the lead through Francis Jeffers.

1304:GOAL: Leicester 1-0 Wolves
What a setback for Wolves' play-off bid as Leicester go one-up through a wonderful strike from Iain Hume.

1300: Whistles blow across the country as the final day of the Championship season gets underway.

1259: We're set for kick-off: 12 fixtures, six promotion places and three spots still to play for.

1253: England striker David Nugent lines up for what could be his last appearance for Preston. He's hinted that he may move on if North End don't go up this season and they need some slip-ups from clubs above them if they are to have any chance of making it.

1246: The teams are starting to come in and Birmingham opt for an attacking line-up against Preston. Niklas Bendtner, Gary McSheffrey and Andrew Cole lead the line in a three-pronged attack. Midfielder Damien Johnson, meanwhile, is fit enough to take his place on the bench.

Preston striker Brett Omerod starts ahead of injured forward Neil Mellor and partners David Nugent up front. Michael Ricketts and Patrick Agyemang start on the bench.

West Brom pair Nathan Ellington and Robert Koren come in for Zoltan Gera and Diomansy Kamara, while teenager Luke Potter makes debut for Barnsley.

1234: Last weekend Sunderland and Birmingham secured their places in the promised land that is the Premiership and this week six other teams will vie for the chance to join them via the play-offs.

Derby are definites for the plays-offs, but West Brom, Wolves, Southampton, Stoke, Preston and Colchester all harbour hopes of joining them in the top-flight.

All will be decided this afternoon on the final day of the Championship season.
