Norwich were outplayed in the second half at Home Park as goals after the break from Marcel Seip and David Norris sealed a comfortable win for Plymouth.
The Pilgrims shaded the first half and were rewarded for their efforts as Gary Doherty flicked into his own net.
Two minutes after the break Plymouth doubled their lead when Seip powerfully headed home Tony Capaldi's corner.
David Norris drilled in to complete the rout before Robert Earnshaw grabbed a consolation goal in injury-time.
Plymouth boss Ian Holloway:
"We can move on now. It's always there that you haven't won at home and now we have. I thought we thoroughly deserved it and was delighted.
"I'm very pleased for all of them as they worked their socks off and now we've got that little thing behind us.
"And we've scored six in the last two home games. It's amazing once you're a couple up, the confidence flows."
Norwich boss Nigel Worthington:
"The one thing I do ask for is the players to play with passion and energy.
"I thought we started reasonably well up until the own goal and that was a real blow for us.
"The second goal was an even bigger blow and then there's a lot of characters that have gone missing. So was the passion and energy I look for."
