Burnley 2-3 Watford
Burnley are just a point above the drop zone after a home defeat by Watford.

The Clarets took the lead when Mark McGregor nodded home after Ian Moore had headed a corner back across goal.

But Watford went ahead when Paul Devlin scored from the spot after he had been fouled by Graham Branch and then Heidar Helguson drilled home from 18 yards.

Lee Cook doubled the lead when he neatly fired home before Dele Adebola ensured a tense finish by heading home four minutes from full-time.

The corresponding fixture ended 7-4 to Watford last year, but Burnley had the perfect start when McGregor scored, before Helguson saw a header saved by Brian Jensen.

But Watford began to dominate and Devlin's penalty and Helguson's right-foot finish deservedly put them ahead.

The Hornets were buzzing and Micah Hyde fired a sweet left-foot shot just over the bar from 20 yards.

Cook looked to have made the points safe when he drove home his sixth goal of the campaign.

But Adebola had other ideas and the big striker latched onto a looping cross to head past Alec Chamberlain with the clock running down.

There was to be no revival for Burnley as Watford saw out time and the Clarets are now deep in the relegation mire.
