Liam Daish determined to win Ebbsfleet United promotion

Ebbsfleet United manager Liam Daish wants to win promotion back to the Blue Square Bet Premier to wipe out the pain of last year's relegation.

The Fleet visit Farnborough on Sunday in the Blue Square Bet South play-off final a year after going down.

"I know what it would mean to me because the disappointment of last year will be rubbed out," Daish told BBC Radio Kent.

"I was determined to win promotion, but we haven't done anything yet."

He added: "We've got to a final after 44 games, which is amazing, they've been a credit, but we've got 90 minutes to really achieve something."

Both teams won the respective away games in the regular season. Ebbsfleet won 2-1 at Farnborough in August, while the 3-0 defeat at Stonebridge Road in February was noted for the sending off of goalkeeper Preston Edwards in the first minute. So Daish is not reading anything into either game.

"In the first half, even though we were without a keeper, we were the better side, and none of the goals we did concede had anything to do with not having a keeper," he said.

"We beat them down there at the beginning of the season which is hard to gauge.

"I think it's close, our away record is second to none in our league, so we'll be hard to split."

Ebbsfleet midfielder Ram Marwa is attempting to win his third Conference South play-off final with three different clubs.

"With St Albans in the final we beat Histon, and with Hayes we beat Hampton and Richmond, so I want to make it three out of three. It's just happened for me, I don't know what the secret is," he said.

"We've done so well to get here, I believe we will do it. We're all on it. I really can't see why not."

"When I arrived there wasn't anybody here, but when we got our shape together I thought 'yes we can do it'. I think we were unlucky we didn't have the team together from the start. I think if we had had the team from the start of pre season we might have won the league."
