Luton Town 0-0 Altrincham

Richard Money
Richard Money's Hatters have still won 10 out of their last 13 games

Luton Town finally ran out of steam on an afternoon when they surrendered their challenge for the Blue Square Premier title to neighbours Stevenage.

Richard Money's Hatters had hammered 24 goals in the last four home games but they could keep their title bid alive.

Luton dominated but were frustrated by a resolute Altrincham rearguard.

Kevin Gallen, Jake Williams and Asa Hall went close but even a win would not have been enough as Stevenage's win at Kidderminster won them the title.

And, after successive Saturday draws, Luton must settle for the play-offs.

Hall and Gallen both tested visiting keeper Stuart Coburn before the break.

And, although rarely looking like they might score themselves as the hosts continued to pepper the goal, Rob Williams bravely blocked to foil Gallen and Jake Howells after the interval.

Peter Doran registered the visitors' only chance when he curled over the bar on the hour but it remained deadlocked.
