Iron in no hurry to appoint boss

Blue Square South

Braintree Town chairman Lee Harding has said he is not in a rush to appoint a new manager.

Harding told BBC Essex with Bradley Quinton in caretaker charge, he has the luxury of time on his side to find Lee Patterson's successor.

"We are not struggling, we've got Brad in place doing a good job," he said.

"But if we are not to continue with Brad then we need someone better and at this moment in time, we've yet to achieve that."

Harding confirmed the club had received plenty of interest from prospective candidates from all levels of the game - ranging from ex-international players to youngsters who have done well on managerial computer games.

He also said player-manager Quinton is in the running to get the job on a full-time basis.

"Certainly if we were to move forward with Brad he might need some help, because it's very difficult to manage and play at the same time," explained Harding.

"It's always useful to get another pair of eyes and ears on the pitch, so we might get someone in to work with him and that's a serious option for us."
