Halifax Town's appeal to remain in the Football Conference has failed.
The club put their case to stay in the Conference to the appeals committee of the Football Association on Wednesday.
Halifax had hoped the FA would put them in Blue Square North, but have now applied to join Unibond Division One North - if they can stay in business.
Town finished 20th in the Blue Square Premier but were demoted two divisions as they failed to get a Company Voluntary Arrangement (CVA) passed.
The club are hoping to make an announcement about their future "as soon as possible".
Their application to join Unibond Division One North will be discussed at the Unibond League's annual general meeting on Saturday, 14 June.
