The 20 places in the next group phase have been decided
Guinea and Mozambique took the two remaining places in the last round of 2010 World Cup and Africa Cup of Nations qualifying.

Cameroon, Kenya, Benin, Nigeria, Ghana, Gabon, Algeria, Ivory Coast, Morocco, Rwanda, Tunisia, Burkina Faso, Mali, Sudan, Zambia, Togo, Malawi and Egypt are other 18 teams to go through.

Mozambique joined them after Angola came from behind to beat Niger 3-1 in Luanda.

After a weekend that left fans around the continent anxious to know their fate, The Gambia just missed out, and Uganda came close.

2010 Nations Cup hosts Angola were already unable to qualify by the time their game against Niger kicked off on Sunday.

But as they came from a goal down to beat Niger and finish second, they moved above Uganda in the group.

Under the complex qualifying system, Angola were not one of the best runners-up.

Guinea held on to beat Kenya 3-2 in Conakry to finish top of Group Two.

The Gambia held Senegal to a 1-1 draw in Dakar in a game that sparked extensive vandalism from angry Senegal fans, as their team was eliminated.

Another big name among the 26 teams that have failed to go through to the second group phase of qualifying is DR Congo.

They made eight consecutive appearances at the Nations Cup before failing to make it to the finals in Ghana this year.

A 2-1 defeat away to Malawi puts the Leopards out, and Malawi through.

Egypt topped Group 12 after a comfortable 4-0 win against Djibouti in the last game of the weekend.

Emad Moteab, Ahmed Hassan and Mohamed Aboutrika scored, along with a Djibouti own goal in stoppage time.

The 20 teams that have made it through will be drawn into five groups of four for the second phase next year, with the group winners going to the World Cup and the top three in each group going to the Nations Cup.

The draw will be held in Zurich on October 22.
