Ghana fall to Mexico
Ghana's Hans Sarpei is out jumped by Mexico's Luis Perez
Mexico was dominant during the game
A goal by Guillermo Franco gave Mexico a 1-0 victory over fellow World Cup qualifiers Ghana in a friendly match on Wednesday.

Alonso Sandoval's 75th minute cross found Franco, who directed an accurate header past Ghana goalkeeper George Owu.

The Mexican side, managed by Ricardo Lavolpe, dictated the pace throughout the game.

Wednesday's loss was Ghana's second consecutive defeat of the year - they had lost 1-2 to Zimbabwe during their final Group D game at the last African Cup of Nations finals in Egypt.

In contrast, it was Mexico's second win in their last three matches - they had beaten Norway 2-1 in January in San Francisco but lost 1-0 to South Korea on 15 February in Los Angeles.

Ghana, who will be making their first appearance at the World Cup finals, are drawn in Group E along with Italy, Czech Republic and the United States.

Mexico will open their World Cup campaign on 11 June against Iran in Group D, where they will also face Angola and Portugal.
