Former Guernsey player Ryan-Zico Black has left Unibond Division One North side Bamber Bridge for the Victoria Premier League in Australia.

Black, 27, who is a former Northern Ireland under-21 international, has joined newly-promoted Sunshine George Cross in Melbourne.

So far he has played in four pre-season games, with the club beginning their season on Sunday.

"It all happened really quickly," Black told BBC Guernsey.

"I played with a player while I was at Kettering whose brother is a manager in Australia.

"He wanted a centre midfielder and he asked about me. He spoke to me and offered me a contract, so I flew out a week later," he added.

Black has made a career playing for non-league sides, starting out at Morecambe before playing for Barrow, Lancaster and Kettering, as well as Glenavon in Northern Ireland.

He wrote a book about his life a non-league called "Zico: An Autobiography of a Non-league Footballer" which was released last year.
