Player suspended for racial abuse

The Guernsey Football Association has confirmed that a player has been handed a 112-day suspension after admitting a charge of racial abuse.

The offence was committed in a friendly match in October and was heard and reported by two match officials.

The player admitted the charge before the GFA's disciplinary committee and in addition to the ban was fined 100.

GFA chairman Mark Le Tissier said: "Football takes racism very seriously. There is no place for it in our game."

In a statement the GFA said their anti-racism policy, which supports the English FA's policies, urges people who receive, see or hear racist abuse, comments or gestures to report it in writing to the GFA secretary.

"The outcome of the disciplinary process is an illustration of the GFA's full commitment to providing everyone the opportunity to play football without fear of prejudice," added Le Tissier.
