Ex-Scunthorpe boss dies
Former Scunthorpe United manager Ron Ashman, the man who discovered Kevin Keegan, has died at the age of 78 after a short illness.

He was the Iron's longest serving manager - and brought Keegan, then 17, to the Old Show Ground in 1968.

Ashman, who had two spells in charge of Scunthorpe, also managed Norwich City - for whom he made 662 appearances as a player - and Grimsby Town.

After leaving football, he went into the travel business.

The Keegan signing came after Ashman was tipped off about a talented youngster in Doncaster.

After scoring 18 times in 124 appearances for Scunthorpe, the future England captain was signed by Bill Shankly's Liverpool for 33,000 in 1971.
